Kurnalpi Project

The Kurnalpi Project is located in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 90 km northeast of Kalgoorlie, accessed via the sealed Yarri Road and station tracks. The Project comprises three exploration licences; E27/707 and E27/653 (granted) and E27/676 (under application), covering approximately 90 km².
The Project is prospective for structurally controlled orogenic gold within both greenstone and granitic units, with additional potential for VHMS base metals and nickel sulphide beneath cover.

LocationEastern Goldfields, WA.  90 km northeast of Kalgoorlie
Tenure Three exploration licences (two granted, one under application)
Area Approximately 90 km²
Targets Orogenic gold; VHMS and nickel sulphide potential under cover

Kurnalpi lies within the Kalgoorlie Terrane of the Eastern Goldfields, a highly mineralised Archean granite-greenstone terrane hosting world-class gold and nickel deposits. Major gold and nickel mines operate within 50 km, and significant depositsincluding the Lindsays, Mulgabbie, Gordon Sirdar and Golden Cities gold deposits and the Silver Swan, Black Swan and Carr Boyd nickel deposits, lie 10 to 25 km from the tenements.

Historical geochemistry delineated the Cesena 3 prospect, a northerly trending gold-anomalous zone approximately 600 m long that may overlie multiple mineralised structures. Shallow RAB drilling in 2012 returned a best result of 3 m at 0.91 g/t Au from 15 m, and the final metre of the neighbouring hole ended in mineralisation, grading 0.97 g/t Au. Neither the depth extension nor the full strike of the anomaly has been drill-tested since, and Gwardar’s first-year program prioritises this prospect.

Since the 1960s the surrounding region has seen continuous exploration for gold, nickel, base metals, lithium and iron, however, the Kurnalpi blocks sat on the margins of large historical tenement packages whose holders focused on proven mineralisation elsewhere. Extensive transported cover over deeply weathered basement limited the effectiveness of many surface sampling methods relied on by past explorers. In their own surrender reports, previous holders concluded the ground remained prospective but left it untested.

The staged program begins with validation of historical data, reprocessing of geophysics and satellite-imagery regolith mapping, followed by field reconnaissance and geochemical follow-up, with priority on the Cesena Prospect, before target ranking and drill testing of the highest-priority targets by aircore and RC drilling.
